Calling All Outdoorsmen!

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY—Winding Creek Bait & Tackle is asking you, the outdoors enthusiast, for ideas on what you’d like to see in their recently expanded store, and as owner Barbara Wiles told iSurf News, “We’re open to any and all suggestions.”

For over 8 years, Winding Creek Bait & Tackle has aided hundreds of fishermen and outdoors lovers from all over western Kentucky and the world with their quest to find the best in outdoors equipment. From high quality rods, all the way to hunting licenses, live bait, a large variety of lures, and beyond, Winding Creek Bait & Tackle can almost always get you what you need to make that next fishing trip or outdoors adventure a success—even if it means placing special orders.

In testament to the quality of Winding Creek Bait & Tackle, former Kentucky Bass Federation State Champion, 2010 BASS State Qualifier, long-time Hopkins County BASS Club member, and return customer, Nick Short, told iSurf News that, “I really like going there because Barbara has the ability to get the special lures you can’t obtain at other places around here. She’s a local ‘mom and pop’ entrepreneur that takes a very proactive approach to running her business. She shows up at the Hopkins County Bass Club meetings to see what we all want. She’s definitely got her finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the fishing world. If you want a polka-doted deep-diver, you aren’t going to be able to find it around here, but she’ll special order it for you. Plus, she’s got a big selection of top notch equipment there right now.”

With the square footage of the Madisonville-based shop doubling to approximately 1,800 sq. ft. in recent weeks, Winding Creek Bait & Tackle is currently calling upon any and all outdoors enthusiasts to find out what they would like to see in the shop.

As owner Barbara Wiles told iSurf News, “This will be the third time we’ve added on to the shop since we opened in 2001. The bass fishermen just kept requesting more and more. Plus, I got in with the Hopkins County and Dawson Springs BASS Clubs and got some ideas from them on what they’re wanting.”

“What I’m looking for now, is any person in our local area from the age 3 and up that can hold a fishing pole to tell me what they want,” said Barbara. “I want ideas of what the people in this area want in a bait and tackle store. It doesn’t have to be just bait and tackle; we can put in some hunting supplies if they want. If people are wanting it, I want to know, because this is a community store. We are built and geared toward the public.”

As Barbara explained, those interested in getting ideas or suggestions to Winding Creek Bait & Tackle have a couple of options. You can pay the shop a visit at 1635 Eastview Drive in Madisonville or you can reach them by phone at (270) 825-9997 (note: Winding Creek will soon be open  on an “on call” basis due to colder weather, yet if no one is available at the shop, phone numbers to contact employees will be posted on the front door).
