HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - The Marching Maroons of Madisonville North Hopkins High School advanced to semifinal competition next week after competing in regional band competition Saturday at Owensboro High School.
Seven other bands also advanced – Marion County, Greenwood, Ohio County, John Hardin, South Oldham, Calloway County and Allen County-Scottsville.
The Marching Maroons secured the highest score of the competition in every available category with a score of 89.84 overall.
The Maroons are directed by Rob Bryant, Allen Emerson and Randy Adams. Troy Jones directs the color guard. Scores of parents work in the “pit crew” and drive the band’s tractor-trailer rig.
The semifinal competition will start Saturday morning at South Oldham High School in Crestwood and the final competition will be held that evening at Papa John’s Stadium in Louisville. The top four bands from the semifinals will compete in the finals Saturday evening.
The Marching Maroons have won five previous AAAA championships. We wish all the students, directors and other volunteers the best as they compete for a sixth state championship!
