HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - It was the Alex Gray show as he ran from the beginning of the game until just into the beginning of the second half when he was lifted for the night.
Scoring on an 80 kickoff return, a run of 60 yards and another one of 49 yards all for touchdowns, he was the story of the night because this is just a freshman in high school. On the night he had 7 carries for 218 yards, 208 of those were earned in the first half.
With those three touchdowns plus one by Trey Carr and another one by Cameron Tandy, the Maroons were no match for Apollo. In the second half, the Maroons scored a field goal in the third quarter and a touchdown on a pass from Trey Carr to Daniel Goodman to complete the scoring for the night.
Owensboro did not quit trying as they had 150 yards rushing in the game. They scored a touchdown in the first half and another in the third quarter. They were in a position to score another touchdown when they coughed up the ball in the end zone and Madisonville pounced on the pigskin.
With a total offense of 406 yards, the Maroons rushed for a total of 327. Carr had 79 years passing with Gray leading the way in rushing following by 75 yards by Cameron Tandy. This is just a tune-up for next week as they face Bowling Green High school in district playoff at 7:30 next Friday night in Bowling Green, KY.Congratulations go out to the Seniors as they played their last home game on Friday night.
