MADISONVILLE, KY - The Madisonville Rotary Club hosted its 15th Rotary Cheerleader Competition at Madisonville North Hopkins High School Saturday morning.
Squads from West Broadway Elementary, Jesse Stuart Elementary, Hanson Elementary, Grapevine Elementary, Pride Elementary, James Madison Middle School and Madisonville North each gave multiple exhibition cheers, sideline chants, and competition routines for a crowd of family and friends.
Proceeds from the event went to pay for MNHHS cheer squad to attend the National Cheer Competition in Orlando Florida next year. The squad won First place in 2009 and 5th place this year. It will cost $1,000 each for the squad of 18 or $18,000 to attend the competition.
The Rotary Cheerleader program serves as a feeder program for the middle and high schools in the county. This year each squad performed exhibition style rather than a competition. The Hanson Elementary squad was selected to receive the “Spirit Award” by the cheerleaders.
