HOPKINS COUNTY, KY—To celebrate the official opening of Bowman’s Auto Service today, November 23rd, members of the Hopkins County-Madisonville Chamber of Commerce helped in hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Madisonville business.
While on the scene, iSurf News spoke with the owner of Bowman’s Auto Service, Mike Bowman, and found out why he decided to open the location, what they offer, and why someone should choose Bowman’s for all their auto repair and service needs.
“I’ve been working with cars for 30 plus years,” said Mike. “I’d worked for Norman Bogess for 20 some odd years, and then when the Brownings bought it, we kind of parted ways. Now the Brownings are gone and Norman confronted me about 3 or 4 months ago and wanted to know if opening a shop here would be something I would consider. The opportunity to get back over here working didn’t take too long to consider—it took me about 30 to 40 seconds to say ‘yes.’”
Situated directly across from Federal St. in Madisonville, Bowman’s Auto Service is located in what was once a part of Bogess Chevrolet at 52 North Franklin Street. Yet, for almost 2 years now, the building has been vacant. As mentioned by members of the Chamber of Commerce during the ceremony, having the space occupied by a new business is a great thing to see.
As far as what Bowman’s Auto Service will provide, Mike explained that, “We offer quick lube, full maintenance services, major and minor automobile repair—including engines, axles, and more—and I am a Napa Auto Care center, so I can back warranties for 12 months-12,000 miles on parts and labor. I pretty much cover it all.”
Additionally, Bowman’s also offers a comfortable lounge/waiting area, complete with free wi-fi internet connection, work stations, TV, coffee, and cold filtered water. The shop is also equipped with the latest diagnostic tools, the newest repair information, and an electronic repair order and invoicing systems that allow Bowman’s to keep a history of all your repairs and services.
When asked why someone needing care repairs or services should come to Bowman’s, Mike said, “Because of my years of experience. I’m also an honest person. I’ve been in the business forever and I’d rather make a dime off of ten people than I had make $75 dollars off one person. I just want to be fair, help people, and want to make a living doing it. I’m not out to get rich, I just want to make a living. I’m just glad to be back and I hope the 27,000 people that used to be in my customer base realize it and come back to see me.”
