Ozalia R. (Sissy) Brooks

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY -  Ozalia Rebecca (Sissy) Brooks, 67, Corydon, passed away into the loving arms of God at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.

“Sissy,” as she was affectionately called, was born Nov. 17, 1942, in Jersey City, N.J., the daughter of the late Charles Bonner and Ozalia Bonner. She was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Corydon, Circle No. 4 Missionary Society, Corydon Church of Alliance and a former Sunday school teacher. She retired from Eaton Axle/Dana Corp. in Henderson after 231⁄2 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son at infancy, Samuel Knight; and four brothers, Ronald Bonner, Charles Bonner III, Richard Holt and Jack Holt.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 42 years, Joe N. Brooks; her stepmother, Jean Bonner of New Jersey; two daughters, Tanya Jackson and her husband, Strother, of Lawton, Okla., and Nicole Cozart of Hopkinsville; two brothers, Timothy Bonner of Henderson and David Bonner of San Francisco; three sisters, Brenda Northington and her husband, Cleo, of Hazlet, N.J., and Cheryl Ann Asia and Valerie Bonner, both of New Jersey; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several aunts and uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends; and her family of medical doctors and staff who provided excellent care.

Her life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Dennis Radford will officiate. Her resting place will be in U.B.F. Cemetery in Corydon.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, where a Celebration of Life Memorial DVD will be shown.

Elliott Mortuary in Madisonville is in charge of arrangements.
