Charles (Chuck) Alexander Tarter

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY - Mr. Charles (Chuck) Alexander Tarter, 66 of Madisonville, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, 9:40 A.M. at his residence.
Chuck was born April 1, 1944 in LaGrande, OR to the late Vic and Phyllis Hancock Tarter. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Nels Victor Tarter.

He was a veteran who served in the U.S. 101st Army Airborne 2nd/506 HQ Company at Fort Campbell, KY. He was a retired conductor for the CSX Transportation Railroad. He attended Grapevine Baptist Church.

Chuck served as President of the Madisonville Lions Club, Zone 2 Chairman of Lions District 43-K, as well as Zone Chairman of District 43-K, was named Cub Lion of the Year and Lion of the Year. Chuck was the Guiding Lion for the Madisonville Community College Lions Club. He also served as Exalted Ruler of the BPOE #738 and President of Hopkins County Bass Club. He was a Volunteer Room Coordinator at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Retha Duncan Tarter, one daughter, Chamala Denny of Pocatello, ID; one son, Scott (Hope) Tarter of Newbern, TN; five grandchildren, Dereck, Jordahn and Aaron Denny, Avery Abshire, and Tristen Nels Tarter; one niece, Brooks Tarter of Seattle, WA and numerous nieces and nephews in Kentucky.

Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., at Grapevine Baptist Church with Bro. Greg Gaddis officiating.

A time of gathering with the family in the church fellowship hall will immediately follow the memorial service.

Memorial donations may be made to the “Jordahn Denny Heart of a Champion” account at First United Bank, P.O. Box 1190, Madisonville, KY 42431.
