HOPKINS COUNTY, KY – James A. (Corky) Caldwell, 81 of Diamond, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 17 in Clay.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1929 in Sturgis to John and Nora Caldwell.
Corky grew up in Henderson where he attended schools. He worked in the oil fields at Kermit, Texas for many years returning to Diamond in the late 1980’s where he owned and operated a junk yard.
Survivors include four daughters, Trina Smith of Kermit, TX, Julie Wilson of Sebree, Beverly Ruzich of Clay and Bonnie Cummings of Nebo. A son James Morgan Caldwell of Diamond, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Three brothers, Charles Qurtermous of Morganfield, Bill Baty of Dixon and Bobby Baty of Toledo, Ohio One sister, Charlene Alexander of Rutland, VT.
Corky enjoyed bird watching, gardening and reading.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Oliver Caldwell and a daughter Linda Cranor.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 1 PM at Jones & Erdman Funeral and Cremation Service. Interment will be in Smith Mills Cemetery. Visitation is on Saturday from 10 AM to service time at the funeral home.
