MNHHS Volleyball Takes Loss at Championship

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY—On Tuesday night, October 12th, Caldwell County’s CAB gym hosted the 7th District high school volleyball tournament.

Madisonville’s North Hopkins High School Maroons team, which currently held a win-loss record of 19-16 for the year, came out and defeated Hopkins County Central High School in the first match on Tuesday.

As a result of the win over Central (25-15, 25-12), the MNHHS team advanced to the finals where they would face the top-seeded team in the district—the Caldwell County Lady Tigers (31-3).

Though the Maroons trailed 11-5 toward the middle of the first set against Caldwell, the girls rallied back in the latter half of the second set, coming near a tie with a 16-12 score. However, the next five points went to the Lady Tigers, which seemed to secure their victory. In the end, the Lady Tigers won by a considerable margin in both the first (25-13) and second (25-15) sets.

However, the Madisonville Maroons and the Caldwell Lady Tigers will both participate in the upcoming 2nd Region tournament this upcoming week.
